Farmers care about the environment and recycle everything they can. Most cow feed is grown on the farm and, to ensure cleanliness, cows receive fresh bedding daily. Straw, wood chips, and shredded newspaper are used for bedding. The water used to clean the milk lines is recycled and used to clean milking parlour floors. Buildings on farms are designed to use cows’ natural body heat to maintain temperatures, even in cold climates.
